General Description
Jasmine is a genus of shrubs and vines in the olive family and contains around 200 species that are native to the tropical and warm temperate regions of Eurasia, Africa and Oceania. Jasmine blossoms are small-medium, white and the petals often form a star shape. The taste of Jasmine has been described as delicate, sweet and quite floral in character.
Use Cases
Due to its subtle character jasmine can be used to flavour a variety of alcoholic beverages and is commonly used in the making of cocktails, wine and vodka.
The most widely known use of jasmine (aside from just planting them in your garden for aesthetics) is of course in tea. Jasmine tea of course shares many of the common characteristics mentioned earlier including a delicate and subtle sweetness.
