General Description
Dried root chips from which the commonly used liquorice (Licorice) flavour is derived. Liquorice is a very well known and widely used botanical due to its distinct flavour. The flavour of liquorice can be described as a very distinct sweet and aromatic flavour with hints of earthiness and resinous notes.
Use Cases
Liquorice root is commonly used in the liquor industry to flavour a variety of strong liqueurs to give them a pungent, aromatic sweetness that works great for a sipping liqueur. Liquorice root can also be used in certain styles of beer such as liquorice flavoured stouts.
Liquorice root is also widely used in the food industry as a flavouring or basis for candy or as a sweet snack on its own. The oils found in liquorice root can also be used as a fungicide.

Liquorice has been shown to be toxic if consumed in excessive quantities as it contains trace amounts of glycyrrhizin and enoxolone, however it is safe to consume provided one does not exceed the toxicity threshold (About 100g of liquorice confectionary).
§ Storage
Keep packet sealed/closed tightly after opening, keep in a cool, dry place and away from pests.
§ Shelf life
These are dried ingredients and should not spoil in any reasonable time frame provided storage conditions are met, however some flavour and viability may be lost over long periods (Several months) of storage
