General Description
The name of this product is quite self explanatory as bitter orange peel is indeed made from the dried peel of bitter oranges, which is native to Africa, Arabia and Syria. The flavour composition of bitter orange peel is a mixture of herbal and citrus notes. This botanical is also used in a wide variety of different things, mostly for flavouring purposes.
Use Cases
The most common use for bitter orange peel is in the making of Belgian witbier where it gives off and helps intensify some lovely herbal and citrus notes which are the most well known traits of the style. Bitter orange peel can also be used as a flavouring agent when making citrus gin as it will impart those same before mentioned aromatic characters consisting of citrus and herbal notes.
Bitter orange peel is also used as a flavouring agent in desserts, candies, gelatin and puddings. It is also used to cover up the taste of pharmaceuticals.

These are dried ingredients and should not spoil in any reasonable time frame provided storage conditions are met, however some flavour and viability may be lost over long periods (Several months) of storage.
