• Myrrh (100g)

General Description

Myrrh is a resinous, sap-like substance that is extracted from a few different thorny trees in the Commiphora genus. Myrrh is a word in Arabic that means bitter and the substance itself has a bitter, pungent taste but a sweet and pleasant aromatic aroma.

Use Cases

Though rare Myrrh can be used to produce aromatic and experimental liqueurs, though it is recommended to introduce it in relatively small quantities so as to not overwhelm the flavour.

Myrrh can be used in the production of perfumes due to its pleasant aroma.

In pharmacology myrrh is used as an antiseptic in mouth washes, gargles and toothpastes. Myrrh can also be used in healing salves.

Myrrh gum is commonly claimed to remedy indigestion, ulcers, colds, cough, asthma and lung congestion along with very bold claims from some sources on helping with arthritis pain and even cancer.

Additional information (If applicable)

Though the use of myrrh in pharmacology is widely accepted for use as an antiseptic, any further claims of medical benefits, especially the more serious claims hinge on very selective evidence at best and it is highly recommended you speak with your doctor before you intend to use this for any medical purpose.
