General Description
Aframomum Melegueta is a member of the ginger family and is closely related to cardamom, it imparts a pungent, black pepper-like flavour with hints of citrus, some additional aromatic notes can also be observed such as hazelnut and jasmine. It is commonly known as Grains Of Paradise or Melegueta Pepper and is native to West Africa.
Use Cases
Grains of paradise can be used to introduce some spicy, floral and citrus characters in distilled spirits, especially in some forms of spiced gin. It can also be used in the production of some malt liquors and craft beer to introduce its unique and spicy flavour.
Melegueta pepper is commonly used in West- and North African quisine, where it has traditionally been transported via camel caravan. It was and is a very popular and valuable spice in the overall spice trade.
A variety of food dishes can be prepared using Grains of Paradise including but not limited to meat dishes, sausages, salads, curry and of course African quisine.

§ Storage
Keep packet sealed/closed tightly after opening, keep in a cool, dry place and away from pests.
§ Shelf life
These are dried ingredients and should not spoil in any reasonable time frame provided storage conditions are met, however some flavour and viability may be lost over long periods (Several months) of storage.
