More info:
Activated carbon, also called activated charcoal, is a form of carbon commonly used to filter contaminants from water and air, among many other uses. It is processed to have small, low-volume pores that increase the surface area available for adsorption or chemical reactions.
Activated carbon is used in a massive range of applications including storage, industry, remediation, medical use and agricultural use and filtration.
Use/Directions:
Though Activated carbon has many uses, the main use for our average home brewer will be for filtration, this will include filtering out impurities, off flavours and colour from spirits.
To filter using activated carbon granules it is recommended to add the carbon granules in a filter or cheese cloth first and then running your liquid through it to “purify” it. The slower the liquid drips through, the better the results.
Storage:
Keep in a cool, dry place.
