General Description
Rye Malt is a form of Malted Rye that is most commonly used as a Base Malt along with either Pilsner or Pale malt in a one to one ratio with some variation to produce a variety of Rye based beers. It can also be used as a specialty malt to enhance certain characteristics. Most recipes may contain around 75% or more Base Malt whilst the rest is comprised out of different specialty malts.
Characteristics
Malted Rye is commonly used to produce fermentable sugar as a base and to enhance spicy, malty aromas in certain rye based beer styles. It can also be used to enhance spicy aromas in a variety of different beer styles.
Can be used partly in a mash for certain malt based spirits such as whiskey.

Storage
Keep product in an airtight container away from pests. If product is milled, it is best to use it within two weeks. For long term storage, it is best to keep the product unmilled until use.
Shelf life
These are dried ingredients and should not spoil in any reasonable time frame provided storage conditions are met, however some flavour and viability may be lost over long periods (Several months) of storage.
