St. Pater’s bier is a Belgian style of beer known as patersbier. It is a Belgian equivalent lawnmower beer that is perfect for drinking during brewing day.
This extract kit uses european hops and liquid malt extract without any other adjuncts and preservatives to create a golden to amber ale. It has a noticeable dose of hops and uses a top-fermenting yeast to produce a thirst-quenching beer according to the Reinheitsgebot, or German / Bavarian Beer Purity Law of 1516.
Estimated brewing parameters:
Hops boil time 15 min. Should you wish to have a slightly less bitter beer, boil for a minute or two less. If you boil for a minute or two more the bitterness will increase.
This kit contains enough ingredients to make and ferment 20L wort. Fermentation volume 20L
This kit consists of yeast, liquid malt extract and hops. You do not need to by any hops, yeast or brew enhancer with this kit.
It is recommended that you use a 10L to 12L pot for the boiling. You will also require a whisk, slotted spoon and a no rinse sanitizer. A fining agent such as irish moss, whirlflock or polyclar will aid in clearing the beer when added at the same time as the hops - not necessary but it will aid in stabilizing the beer in the longer term. A muslin bag or hops bag will greatly help contain the hops in the boil , but a muslin cloth filtering out most of the hops when the wort is thrown into the fermentor will also work. Dextrose is recommended as the bottling sugar added at between 7g and 9g per litre when bottling.
