Pale Ale Malt

General Description

Pale Ale malt is a form of Malted Barley that is most commonly used as a Base Malt. Base Malts make up most of your overall grain bill in a recipe, making up the bulk of your fermentable sugar. Most recipes may contain around 75% or more Base Malt whilst the rest is comprised out of different specialty malts.

Characteristics

Pale Ale malt is mostly used to produce the fermentable sugar for the beer, however when isolated it will produce a very pale, washed out yellow coloured product with neutral, slightly malty characteristics and little residual malt sweetness.

Used primarily as a base in a variety of Ale styles with medium to high body. Can be used as a base for a Whiskey mash.
