General Description

 

Flaked maize is a form of crushed corn that is commonly used as a specialty grain to enhance the dextrin qualities of a brew to increase the body of the beer. Flaked maize is most commonly used in certain lager or pilsner styles due to its very neutral character and creaminess.

Flaked Maize is most commonly used as a dextrin enhancing grain for certain brew styles and has minimal flavour characteristics.

Dextrin Malts contain more non-fermentable sugars than base malts, called dextrins – these dextrins cannot be fermented and thus it is not recommended to use dextrin malts such as this as a base.

Storage

Keep product in an airtight container away from pests. If product is milled, it is best to use it within two weeks. For long term storage, it is best to keep the product unmilled until use.

Shelf life

These are dried ingredients and should not spoil in any reasonable time frame provided storage conditions are met, however some flavour and viability may be lost over long periods (Several months) of storage.
